The Murder in Istanbul is a remarkable painting by Nicholas Chistiakov, whose subject is the death of a young sexually appealing woman. Artist uses intense transparent black and complex gray background and extremely energetic brushwork on the figure of a woman. Painter created an amazing mess of a grayish, creamy whites, pinkish, reddish and yellow hues. The overall effect is an extremely rich and complex canvas. It's hard to reproduce effect of the real painting in photography. Sex, youth and death is a sensational mix of contemporary art. This painting is a true statement of modernism and an iconic image of a new era in painting. Painting reaches beyond the photography, leaving naturalist reality for the second and taking worlds beyond the visible for itself. Chistiakov is able to achieve the feeling of near touching death and near experiencing orgasm, both ultimately close sensations.
