The Hysteria is among most provocative and shocking images by Nicholas Chistiakov. This triptych is a dramatic portrait of an old woman screaming in the face of approaching death. Contemporary artist used just a few colors to create this work of art - transparent brown-black, cadmium red, ochre and few shades of pink. Brushstrokes are extremely visible and energetic. This painting can evoke feelings familiar to many during month of September in 2001. The death is likewise terror, it comes from nowhere and takes you nowhere, and there is no possible way to anyone to resist it, just a human effort to leave a trace and stay remembered after the death.
