For Nicholas Chistiakov the scenes of crucifixion is a such theme that combines almost everything. Understanding impossibility to escape from own mortality is never too easy, witnessing suffering is similarly a challenge. Paintings is executed in the intense hues, semi-transparent orange nuanced with complex gray, with the strong accents of dark, brown-black shadows. There is a different kinds of beauty - beauty is not something that perceived the same by everyone. People learn to see the beauty. Something that was understood as the ugliness for centuries could be presented as fashion, elitarian taste or a new kind of beauty in modern times. Obviously we live in the world of constant alterations of values and meanings. For Nicholas Chistiakov beauty is an equivalent to the complex criteria of visual qualities and intellectual depth of an artwork. The Scenes of Crucifixion is a significant paintings because they have both - visual strength and intellectual depth.
